First Week in Sch...

On Mon I had Financial Accounting (FA) class from 0830-1145. It was quite sad as I only knew 2 pple, David and Kelly, from the class and I was not sitting with them cuz we came in at different times. Somemore next week gotta form project teams le. Actually I'm glad I'm in SMU where lessons are conducted in seminar-style of abt 40 students, so I can concentrate better.

It seems that students from BAcc are pretty serious with their work, studies and grades. That's y my cousin was telling me that BAcc in SMU very competitive. Think it shud be like that in NTU as well? Never had I gone for such a lesson, where many of the students are eager to contribute in class discussions. Quite cool la... But then it's mostly the guys doing that la. And some of the guys asked quite fei4 questions la... I trust that our prof is able to distinguish the gd from the bad questions.

Prof Gan only went thru the basic and introductory elements of financial accounting. Imagine I gonna be a professional/expert in this field at the end of 4 years... Scary sia... Look at the numbers and gonna peng le. Prof Gan is old (and therefore wise.. hehz)and humorous. Though the class was 3-hour long, I was able to keep myself awake thruout. He mentioned that he'll go as fast or as slow as we want so that we can get it right. If need be, he'll conduct extra lessons for us... Hmmm... Anyway I tink he's relli nice la...

Tue was a free day so I decided spending my time looking thru which courses I shud bid for to make my 4th module.

Went to sit in International Econ class on Wed morn to see for myself how it's like. Basically first lesson was about International Trade that we learnt in JC. The class was filled with yr 2s and 3s. Quite scary manz.

Hung ard Kopitiam and library with some frens, doing nothing, since I dun have any assignments or books yet. Then went to buy my FA book and activate my EZ link card. Yippie!

Had leadership and teambuilding (LTB) lesson at 1530. Prof Kong is a pretty charismatic, nice and funny lady. It was fun spending like half the time introducing ourselves to the whole class. Later we formed groups and my group was called Everest. But then I heard that LTB is quite time-consuming cuz we gotta do a community service project as well as do an assignment about "A Leader I Have Known" as a team. Shiong...

Today had Communication lesson in the morn. Prof Singh was humorous as well, but heard that she's quite strict. Oops. Had to give a speech, with a specified target audience and purpose to the whole seminar class. I gave a speech, with juniors in Hwa Chong as my target audience, telling them why I chose SMU and advise them to come to SMU. Most of us were pretty confident. Prof Singh mentioned that competition will be pretty stiff in this class. Oh no... Later we had to write a letter to an imaginary prof persuading him/her to allot us a place in his class. Prof Singh said that there may not be breaks in the future in the 3-hour lesson cuz time is precious and we have lotsa stuff to complete. Madness.

Dunno y Blk A has Guys:Gals ratio of 2:1. Sigh. In my LTB Group, there'r only 2 gals. I forsee that I'll be the only gal in my FA proj team. Always thot there'r more gals in BAcc. Hmmm...

No lesson tmr, but I tink I may drop by sch to look out for old LTB textbook from Verts (Verts buys and sells used textbooks). I relli dun wan2 buy a new book la. Besides I bidded for Accounting Infosys (AIS) Wed 0830-1145 slot and Management of People at Work (MPW) Session 1: Mon 1200-1330 2: Thur 1345-1515 slot. Will take either, not both, if not may be too shiong for first term since both are business subjects for BAcc. I shall allow myself some time to adjust to sch life first. Hoping I can get the AIS course. Anyway there are quite a lot of vacancies so tink it shud be fine. =)

9:55 PM
Finally...

Dragged myself out of bed super early in the morn, like b4 5 am. Then left home b4 6 am.

Had to reach @ Bishan CC at 6 plus... Madness, yawned like once every second.

After we set up the booth, participants started streaming in. Among them were a family of 17 who were super enthu, some Tanglin SS students, Italian profs from SMU, Huiyi and Steven from my ASOC group & Tze, Shuyun, Yujin, Zhemin, Benji, LK & Jizheng from 29th OAC!

Actually think that our whole event itself is quite grand. Goodie bag got Teenage mags, 'Eat' mag, M&M cutesy souvenirs, Newater, Bods vouchers, Nature's Farm's vouchers & Coverlooks vouchers. We even had NMP Eunice Olsen, Ang Peng Siong and Fandi Ahmad as our guests!

Juz too bad that we dun have enuf participants. We had about 100 participants so it looked like a mini-walkathon. SpOs needs $10,000 but we raised like much less than the target amt. =( Tink it was our publicity ba. The article on Today newspaper only came out like on Sat la... Then dunno wad happened to our Straits Times article oso. And the schools in Bishan area either ignored or rejected our email regarding the walkathon. Went down to NYGH, NJ and Hwa Chong to sell tix and managed to sell several tics to our juniors and teachers but seemed like none of them went down, though they promised to. =( Pang sei us...

In conclusion, all of us did this fundraising project out of goodwill. We dun really ask for anything in return besides experience, a sense of satisfaction and success in fundraising. Much time and effort, blood and sweat was put into this fundraising walkathon. For this project, some of my team-mates actually pon lectures, while PL decided to give SMUX Camp a miss.

Many thanks to the helpers, volunteers and all who came down to the walkathon, especially my friends, who particularly came to cheer me/ us on... =) It relli means a lot to me.

Anyone keen on making a donation, or if any queries, you can contact me or email to: zest_team@yahoo.com.sg

We still have 1 more week left to raise funds for Special Olympics. Yepz...

Tmr starting sch... Quite apprehensive! Wish me good luck!

Sch's Starting!!

School's starting!

Got my time-table.

Mon: 0830 - 1145 ACCT103 - Financial Accounting

Wed: 1530 - 1845 MGMT001 - Leadership and Team Building

Thur: 0830 - 1145 COMM101 - Communication: Competencies and Strategies

3-day week! But y are the classes sooooo loooooooooong? Pre-assigned 3 modules only, cuz I'm exempted from Calculus, Intro Econs & Intro Stats. Got exemption for Intro Stats cuz I took this Optional Waiver Test for Stats, and I passed. Well, it was sheer tyco and luck la, since I din take F Math, and if you ask me, I dunno wads regression, covariance, t distribution etc... Passing rate is freaking low, so i'm damn proud of my tikam-ing skills... =)

But then, I'm not so slack la, will be bidding for 2 more modules so can complete more mods in the first term la. But the prob is, I dunno wad's there I can bid and what I shud bid for! Ah... Bidding starts from this coming Mon... Excited and scared manz... Saw the price for General Elective: Malay Lang... More than e$100.. Vomit blood... Only got e$40 now... so need to save up if I wan2 take Malay...

Tmr is Convocation. Supposed to wear court shoes, black skirt and white shirt la, but then so sianz, cuz gotta report at 9.30 am for school's scholars... For wad la seriously... depriving me of my slp... After Convo at abt 5 plus still need to rush down to Bishan for final committee meeting for Sun's walkathon...

So far I'm quite touched that my SMUX OG are onz abt going for the walkathon to support me on Sun. =) Also touched that some of OAC pple coming oso, and to have Vanessa's moral support... Yeah...

Hope that everything goes on well on Sun. My wishlist for Sun:
1. > 200 pple turn up.
2. > 50 pple purchase the tics on the day itself.
3. Hot, sunny and dry morning!
4. Programme goes on smoothly!
5. Have Special Olympians to be enthu and take part in the walkathon!
6. Raise more funds via sale of tics on the day itself and sale of food and drinks @ the carnival!

Well... So far, not everything had gone smoothly for us, Team Zest la... Sales' bad, cuz it's $10 per tic, pple are wary of giving to charitable organisations due to the NKF scandal and publicity is not sufficient. Besides, we had not received sufficient support from the charitable organisation we'r trying to raise funds for. So it's pretty discouraging for us. I tried emailing, msn-ing, sms-ing and telling my frens abt this event, but response is pretty bad la. Some wants to sleep more and some r simply not interested. What's worse is that some of my frens were puzzled by my involvement in CIP though I dun get to earn hours... Well... Thot the answer is obvious...

Tink many a times, we've thot of absconding with the money, cuz we seriously spent so much effort organising the event and raising funds la. But of, we, as Team Zest, the ever-filled-with-integrity team, will not do such things la... And then this walkathon is not the end of this project. There's still accounts (and I'm the treasurer) and presentation of our charity project. Hehez, we'r seriously thinking of selling the extra sponsored magazines we have to karang guni to raise that extra few dollars.

But I seriously need fund-raising for myself oso lorz... Cuz i signed up for this basic diving course held from 9 - 11 Sept. Yeah.. quite excited abt it la.. Hehez...

Ok, got a BEETLE ard me, gotta run...

SMUX Camp

SMUX = SMU Xtremists

DAY 1:
Started off in sch in the afternoon with ice breakers. GLs: Yingzhao, Adrian. Groupmates: Elizabeth, Yn Ay, Shuhui, Carey, Nicholas, Devin, Alvin, Weibo, Phoebe and I. We then went on a scavenger hunt ard town area. Took many pics and rushed over to MacRitchie. My group seemed like a slack group. We were juz walking and quite relax la... But still very onz la. To our surprise we ended up as the fastest group to reach MacRitchie! Yeah... Played station games. The most fun game was to help remove a tight XS pink T-shirt on our group members without using ur arms. We had to hold hands and use our mouths to pull the T-shirt out. It's very funny when it comes to the guys, cuz the T-shirt is so tight and gay on them!

After dinner in the dark in the middle of the forest, we set off to JE for another round of hunt and ice-skating at Fuji Palace! The last time I ice-skated was Sec 2. Ever since the incident when my fren skated over my finger and i got a scar on my wrist, I had a phobia, but that day I had no choice but to overcome my fear. I skated with Elizabeth cuz I felt safer skating with a fren than skating alone. Later we had tug-of-war with shoes on ice. Imagine everyone pulling and falling and climbing back again. It was so funny and fun!!!

Then comes a low point. We had candle warfare where we were supposed to blow out the candles of the opposite teams so that they can't blow out ur candles. Then we had to burn their twine at their respective bases. My team lost terribly cuz we abided by the rules while other groups blew out our candles even when their lights were blown out. I had a lot of candle wax dripped onto my arms and legs and even hair! Then in a rush to protect my candle, I dripped wax on someone's face without realising it. Anyway he was the one who attempted to blow out my candle though he didn't have light anymore. He was so pissed that he complained to the gamemaster that I purposely dripped wax into his eyes. I was so shocked that he said that cuz I didn't even noe that I did that. I juz thot that he was making a big fuss out of it cuz I apologised to him. Whatever...

We walked back to Yuhua CC and spent the night there. We all had very little sleep. Tink I only had 3 hours of slp.

DAY 2
Morn: Went to Climb Adventure for climbing. Climbed the usual wall that OAC gals climbed. Tink I was the fastest person in my whole group to reach the top. Then my group sent me to take part in the competition up the slanted wall. It's super tough la, and I din manage to climb it since I'm so bottom heavy. Actually I expected myself to be able to climb up. My group oso held quite high hope on me la, but tink I too kancheong. Fell once and kinda lost momentum la.. hehez...

...stoning...

Scared!!!

Afternoon: Went to Tampines Safra for snorkelling and diving intro course. It was interesting learning diving la, since it's something new. They'r organising a trip to Tioman in Sept and I'm relli tempted to take part in it since it's only abt $400, considered cheap for a diving course. =) Then we played mahjong. My team members are to transfer mahjong tiles thru the water by skin-diving and diving so that I can play mahjong on land. Haha.. we only needed 9suo to win the 13yao.. Urgh... But this guy from another team took our vital tile from Shuhui. So unethical. Such unfair things happened to our group so many times that Yujian, a snr, a SMUX crew, actually empathised with us and told us that we'r his fav group. Haha... Super biased of him, but we like.. Hehez...

...in the pool...

At night, we bidded for food for dinner, cooked our dinner and prepared for Mr & Ms Orange Pageant to be held during campfire. I was selected to be Mr Orange of my group since I can act and be quite funny. They waxed my hair such that after washing my hair 4 times, my hair was still waxy! Gross! I donned Adrian's polo tee over my sleeveless T and Nicholas' berms over my shorts. Wore Weibo's watch and Alvin's sports shades (it was at nite u noe). When it was my turn, I acted cool and flipped Yn Ay's jacket over me. I then swung the jacket over my shoulder and threw poker cards onto the floor. And then I said, I'm Chow Luan Fatt (messy hair). I tink it's quite funny la. When they asked me wad part of opp sex do I notice first, I said it's the "mole" and sang "I like her moley moley" to the tune of "I like to move it move it", since my fellow Ms Orange, Devin, had a mole on his face, which made him look so comical. Luckily I managed to get into role and din laugh when I did stupid things. Despite my cool and handsome and convincing appearance, and Devin's gross boobs, we did not win... Sad... But it's fun la... hiakz...

See the cool guy?

I was rather disappointed that the campfire did not have frenship dance and those fun songs and dance, cuz I tink that relli bonds pple in the camp and bring the atmosphere of the camp to a high point. It only had cross-dressing and some gays "making out".

Bought Merci chocs and cheng tng for our GLs when we went to 7-eleven. Then Yingzhao was so touched and kept on saying that we'r so sweet. =)

DAY 3:
Had kayaking. Kayaked to Frog Island, which means crossing the straits from Changi towards Ubin. When we reached, we threw seaweeds on Adrian and on everyone in the end. Haha... Madness.

The last activity was obstacle course. We had to first paddle on the raft towards the kayaker and den back. There's a group with 4 guys on the raft while our group had 3 guys and 1 gal which was me. But then we ended up fastest to finish the race. Then we had to run to the 1st station and all the way to the 8th station to complete tasks. At the 2nd station, we had to do Caterpillar Walk AKA Dragon Walk, which we had for training in OAC. Bian tai... Cuz we did it on concrete and Elizabeth fell with a buah duku on her forehead, while I had abrasion on my legs.

When we had to pia back, I had stitch la. Sian... So I could only take small strides which was irritating, and I couldn't stop cuz we had to run back as a group la. Wah liew... damn sianz... But we still managed to return as the 3rd group.

After prize presentation and being waterbombed by the GLs and crew, some of us went for dinner at Pizza Hut at Tampines Mall.. Crapped so much and stayed till 10.30pm and I reached home only at 12am... Super tired now...

Absolutely love my group and GLs... =)

Threesome!!!

School is starting in a week's time. I'm rather excited but I dun exactly noe what I'm in for...

ASOC Camp

ASOC = Accounting Society in SMU

This camp is held in Sentosa from Fri to Sat. My group consists of more gals than guys: Yin Pin, Yvonne, Huiyi, Clara, Ili, Nicole, Eugene, Alvin, Wei Zhe, Steven and 2 facis, Chin Ser and Marcus.

When we reached Sentosa, we spent some time playing Ice-breaker games, but in actual fact, our group already knows each other since ALL of us turned up for the gathering prior to the camp.

We played station games which were mostly on the beach, but "Dog and Bone" is held in the sea where we were supposed to snatch the watermelon floating in the water and run towards the base. Basically it turned to be like Contact Rugby. Haha, being the violent self, I had quite a lot of fun in that station. However, generally the camp activities were not as interesting as I expected since it was held in Sentosa. I expected the activities to be packed since the camp is only 2D1N.

In the late afternoon of the first day, we had to perform a skit on twisted fairy tales where the bad guys had to be the good guys. Our group presented Hansel & Gretel. I tink camps shud not have skits, esp when u have to watch all 14 groups present their skits, even though most of the skits were relli funny and entertaining.

At nite there was a tactical wargame where we juz went ard killing pple, breaking rules like nobody's business since it's so dark and the station masters can't see that clearly. We had to find clues in other teams' bases in order to solve the code, which turned out to be "King Arthur and the Round Table". My team was the first team to solve the code!

This is first time I checked in a resort so late in the nite and so early in the morn. Basically we checked in at about 11+ and checked out at 8+ the next morn. We played Indian Poker aft bath to clear the 4 bottles of fizzy drinks we had. We succeeded in hydrating every1 except for me, for I was the only person who did not kena forfeit. The second round we filled up the bottles with tap water. It was madness looking at how they had to finish up the bottles of water bit by bit. Then, all but me, Ili, Marcus and Wei Zhe K.O. So we played Bridge till 3am.

Second day was super sunny and hot. I realised that my nose had begun to peel!! Goodness, fancy my nose peeling juz 1 day after exposing it to the sun!

We continued playing station games and Scavenger Hunt, with a lot of slacking and stoning time in between. We were rather slack during the Scavenger Hunt, and I tink that was partly the reason y we ended up the 3rd though we were leading on the first day. Haha, but it doesn't matter as long my group is ONz!!!
