What Had I Been Doing?

What had I been doing recently?

My current committments:

1. Project Y.E.S

- So far I'd gone for 2 out of the 3 Rehearsals AKA NE Shows, where we had to bring kids to Padang from their schools and then follow them in their schoolbuses back to their schools, before we make our way home. So far I took Nanyang Primary, where the kids were very well-behaved, and Greenridge Pri, which was not bad too.
- There's still a Preview to go, which is to be held this Sat, and of cuz most imptly, NDP itself!
- Gotta say that sitting in the BLUE sector isn't very great. It's the side facing the Grand Stand.
(1) Well, the 2 big screens are right on the 2 ends, on top of BLUE sector. It's obviously placed there so that the VVIPs have excellent view of the live performances even if they have chronic myopia. So obviously, us ushers and audience
(2) The main fireworks are launched from Marina Bay, which is behind BLUE sector, across the river. How do we watch the fireworks then? We shift ourselves such that we can view the fireworks through the leaf canopy of the trees behind us, through the gaps in between the banners hung behind us.
(3) Of cuz, dun forget to open up the transparent, or shud I say transluscent (from the dust), umbrellas. If u dun, ur hair or some part of ur body is bound to get burnt from the falling sparks of the mini fireworks launcher right on top of BLUE sector.
- Well, maybe if u sit at bottom of BLUE sector it's not that bad. But it's relli THAT bad u sit on the top section of BLUE sector.

2. Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes
- My team is called TEAM ZEST! becuz we r all so full of zest. My group is made up of Qinghan, Peiling, Wanling, Mingjuan, Lydia, Chui Khim and I! All gals!
- Our target organisation is Special Olympics, which is for intellectually-challenged sportsmen.
- We are organising a walkathon to be held on 21 August 2005.
- We aim to get at least 1,000 participants so can raise funds sufficient to sponsor the sportsmen partly to take part in Special Olympics New Zealand National & Asia Pacific Invitation Games this year. So, friends, do support my team and these courageous sportsmen ok?!

But then wad had I been this week?
I read 3 books by Jostein Gaarder:
The Christmas Mystery
Through A Glass, Darkly
Vita Brevis

I actually wanted to search for The Solitaire Mystery, cuz after reading Gaarder's Sophie's World I kinda fell in love with his writing style. Heard that The Solitaire Mystery is probably even better than Sophie's World, but I couldn't find it in the library.

By the way I'm the kinda person who buys a book to read it once and put it aside after that. I'd rather borrow. So if any of you has The Solitaire Mystery, kindly lend it to me?

I like Through A Glass, Darkly cuz it's so touching and profound... It's a book of conversations about life and death, between a young girl (Cecilia) and an angel (Ariel)...

Cecilia wrote in her diary:

We cry when something is sad. Then we often shed a tear when something's beautiful as well. When something's funny or ugly, we laugh. Perhaps we are sad when somethin is beautiful because we know that it won't last forever. Then we start laughing when something is ugly because we understand that it's only a joke.

How true...

As you see she was very sick and on the verge of dying throughout the book.

"Would you like to come out with me and fly?"
She laughed. "But I can't fly."
The angel Ariel sighed indulgently. "It's time to finish all that nonsense. Just come here."
So Cecilia went towards the angel Ariel.
He took her hand. The next moment they were in free flight through the open window, over the barn and above the whole landscape. It was early un the morning just before sunrise on a new winter's day.

A little later they flew back to the open window and sat on the windowsill, just as Ariel had done the first time he came.
They both looked down at her bed. Cecilia didn't think it at all strange that she could see herself lying there with her fair hair over the pillow...

I couldn't help it but cried when she died... It was partly sadness, but I was glad for her, for death was not to be feared for optimistic Cecilia...
