4Cs - Classes, CNY, Castles and Churches

Intensiv Deutschkurs

Try deciphering this; it’s not so hard, really.

Ich mag Intensiv Deutschkurs, aber 8. Februar ist das Ende. Mein Lehrerin is sehr gut. Hier ist mein Schreiben:

Mein Name is Fenny. Das is alles! Tschuss!

Entschuldigung, mein Deutsch is nicht so gut!

looks like Graduands!

not paying attention to the presentations!

our prof looks like Santa Claus!

CNY in Germany

No CNY goodies on sale here. No gaudy CNY songs playing in the shops. No one wearing red clothes, or selling red and prosperous stuff. No louhei, no hotpots. Only Rosenmontag and Karneval.

So we decided to hold our own party on 除夕at Winkel’s EBS Flat. What was thought to be a gathering for the Asian exchange students from China, Hongkong, Malaysia and Singapore turned out to be multi-cultural party with many angmohs crashing! Sincheow played the CNY music that she downloaded from the net in the background. I’ve always hated CNY music but it added a tinge of CNY mood to the party, and the angmohs loved it, as it sounded so Spring and so upbeat.

Churches, Castles, Monasteries, Museums

Deutschland is not just the land of wursts and Mercedes, it's the land of Schloß, Catholic churches too. I find a need to document the various churches and historical architectures I've visited lest I forget them.

Kloster Eberbach, Hattenheim:

A Cistercian monastery from the 12th to the 14th centuries, the Eberbach Monastery is considered to be the most important architectural edifice of the Middle Ages in the entire state of Hessen.

Martinsdom, Mainz:

Magnificent and dark building dating back to AD 975.

Gutenberg-Museum, Mainz:

Without Johannes Gutenberg, we wouldn't have printers. Here there was a demonstration (unfortunately in Deutsch) of printing using the ancient printing press.

Kurfürstliche Burg Eltville

Marktkirche, Wiesbaden

Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum, Mainz:

Located along the Rhein, it houses artefacts tracing human existence from prehistory to the Middle Ages. Houses private functions too.
