I'm graduating!

So the day will come in 3 weeks' time. Perhaps nothing much will change within the next few months, but once I start working, I may start to miss school. It's not that hard to understand why. Looking back, I probably would not have changed anything, maybe except join an overseas CIP which I didn't have time for. I did what I wanted to do - outdoor activities, leadership experience, travel and overseas stints. Presentations, projects and networking probably had forced me to come out of the shell though I was already quite extroverted even before SMU.

It's all great, except I've to study for exams. But all's going to come to an end soon. Then it'll be Alumni Party, ASOC Graduation Party, Adrace, grad trip to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand and work.

For now, besides looking forward to then, I really should enjoy the moment - fluffing up and enjoying my final presentation in SMU ever, maybe walking over to the museum to check out the Christian Lacroix exhibition with xy, and some simple gastronomic joys with projectmates!

Last week, Tiff, Clara, Michelle and I went to try the 2-for-1 special at Forlino's in One Fullerton, as a reward for completing our IE project! It's so good I can't stop looking at the photos, and now I shall take pleasure in reliving the taste through writing...

Hand-made Foccacia Bread with little holes in it filled with olive oil. You could just eat it on its own.

Amuse Bouche. The polenta was fine, thick and soft at the same, and was a contrast to the crunchy and juicy wild mushrooms, teasing you with subtle flavours from the sprinkles of olive oil and parmesan.

Swordfish Carpaccio with Blood Orange, Tomatoes and Capers Olive Oil. Was trying to be adventurous here by choosing this over the pumpkin soup, though I'm really not a big fan of raw fish. But I was taken by surprise - swordfish has an acquired taste, but its rawness was rather mild and blended perfectly with the juices from the fresh olives (that came with the stalk and was so sweet; I can't believe I can write so much about the olives). The blood orange and cherry tomatoes provided a refreshing complementary taste as well as served to rinse the fishy taste.

Meat Platter from Tiff's Traditional Set Lunch

Tiff's Traditional ‘piedmonte’ veal ravioli was flavourful, but not overwhelming, from skin to filling to sauce.

Roasted Duck Breast for my main, with red wine from Clara's sis. The succulence reminded me of Hong Kong's Yung Kee, just more fats, less oil and meatier.

Tiff's Pan-fried Cod was succulent as well. I loved the caramelized onions, which totally reminded me of the sardines dish I ate in Venice, which was one of the yummiest food I ever tried.

Tiff's Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousse with Mascarpone Cheese. You could just have the mascarpone by itself.

Finally the petit fours with tea!

A good meal and chat session never fails to make one smile! The place was in a hidden corner of the building, accessed only via the lift and a bit of walk between pillars, up the stairs and round a few corners. The route seemed intimidating but you'll end up in the prettily decorated (quite Art Noveau) restaurant with the lovely shades of powder blue. The lighting was fantastic, with glass walls facing the Esplanade and Marina Bay, that the pics turn out so perfect! Photos in courtesy of Tiff.
