Night Safari

Went to Night Safari last nite to accompany my distant aunt and uncle who are here to join my distant cousin! The last time I went Night Safari was in Primary School, but I dun rmb enjoying that trip cuz I couldn't see much in the dark, together with my mum's complaints about the animals hiding in the corners, sleeping or the mozzies. So, the most I rmbed from that trip were the anteaters.

The exterior of the zoo and Night Safari has changed a lot! It's kinda rare to find such dark places of interest in Singapore. The lights were seriously so dim that I nearly tripped over a miniature bush. The atmosphere was so African, so tribal, and was rather romantic and comfy. We started off with the Fishing Cat Trail where we saw humongous bats - Flying Fox. So cute!!! The fishing cats were fierce-looking despite it being only slightly larger than domestic cats. The hyenas were quite ugly and scary too. They kept running around within their enclosed area, and it seemed very possible that they could gain momentum and leap out of their enclosure. But they're my cousin's fav.

My favourites are still the adorable otters and fearless tigers. The otters swim in pairs and make cutesy squeaks as they communicate with each other. Remind me of my beloved late Bobo, Nana and Little Wintermelon.

In the leopard trail, we even got to see the GIANT flying squirrels, spanning up to abt the height of an adult human! I witnessed a squirrel jump-glide from one tree to another which was super far away! Damn cool!

We then took a tram ride, in which we saw a giraffe, oryxes and zebras sitting on the grass plains, to catch the final "Creatures of the Night Show" of the nite. The highlights have to be the Bearcat crawling on the rope on top of the audience to a nest of eggs and eating them b4 our eyes, and a python which was found under the audience's seats. I muz say it's quite creative to have an actor found among the audience, and going around scaring the audience. I initially believed him to be a fussy visitor. But it was quite disappointing that my favourite otters did not swim out to empty the recyclable rubbish into the recycling bins.

I would highly recommend visiting Night Safari for animal lovers and perhaps anyone who want to keep these animals in ur memories b4 they go extinct. Quite an eye-opener!
