my maiden trek

set off on sat morn on a trekking trip to gunung datuk, malacca which stands at 880m. thot that this would be a relaxed trip since we were told it's an easy trek. thus, i din even train. anyway i haven't jogged in a long time. urgh... i would say the ascent was tiring cuz the slopes are STEEP, the natural steps are far apart, and i was carrying on my back a haversack with a weight of at least 4.5 litres of water. urgh, shudn't have brought so much water, cuz it turned out to be more than sufficient. hmmm. but of cuz the main reason was that i din train la. imagine the last time i jogged longer than 5km was when? can't rmb, cuz that was so so long ago... haha...

it was considered a tiring trek cuz it was all the way up. rarely do u find flat land or relatively flat land to walk on thruout the ascent. but it can be done in juz 3 hours, and locals there treat it like sunday morning exercise... wad can i say? some of them are snr citizens somemore... diaoz...

then finally, we reached the summit... it was so misty, cuz halfway thru our ascent, there was a downpour. quite cold too. we clambered our way up the rocks to get to the highest point of G. Datuk and MY MY!

this is heaven

view of the town amidst the mist

the view was breathtaking and the air was cold. it seemed a little like heaven cuz it was so misty we could practically see the mist blown right before our eyes! we could see the town and a little further down. it's such a pity that we couldn't see clearly wad was in the distance due to the mist, but it was definitely a view i had nv seen b4... =) we were so excited that we juz kept on taking pictures and more pictures!

clambering for our lives!

enjoying nature's beauty...

and dinner in the outdoors had nv been so sumptuous b4! back in oac, we were so poor that we couldn't even afford better instant noodles and had to eat stuff like luohanzhai and the lousiest brand of luncheon meat. but yest we had relli good cooks. we had baby kailan with jingzhen mushrooms in oyster sauce, yi mian with campbell creamy soup (which i termed carbonara yi mee), furong egg, extra crispy fried chicken wings etc. my tummy practically expanded by at least 1 cm.

i have to boast about our breakfast as well: hashbrowns, omelettes, sunny-side-up, pratas (soured though) and glutinous rice balls. utter madness.

besides the good view and food, one of the most memorable moments is the gossiping sessions among the gals! that's always the best part of outdoor stayovers/ camps. take pawnees' gals nite for example! hehez... then the guys kept eavesdropping on us. din noe we were that loud, esp our laughters. oops...

even on the bus ride back to singapore, we were so engrossed in gossiping that we gave up the thot of slping on the way back. even the guys were entertained by our interesting topics.. muahaha...

but now... back to reality. gotta start studying for my FA quiz soon... hehez...
